The AVM System, A Technological Feat!

With the coming trend of Industry 4.0, FATEK (Factory Automation Technology) led by Far East Machinery Group (FEMCO) has successfully developed an Automatic Virtual Metrology system (AVM) for automated aluminum alloy wheel production line.

The newly launched AVM device is capable of achieving real-time measurements, while producing high quality wheels and reducing defect rate. It also performs accuracy checks with wireless monitoring function right after production, all in one process. The precision parts data are then collected and stored in the cloud server for future references following the concept of Big Data. These processes do not affect or extend the original processing time. With complete smart device compatibility, this system can automatically send specific parts records to designated personnel or clients. The information from AVM may also be useful for real-time cutter compensation, ensuring a consistent high level of product quality.

After going through stringent testing on over 1,000 aluminum wheels, the FEMCO’s AVM has received more than 7,000 positive feedbacks from customers. This unit also brings greater benefits for users since it significantly reduces the labor force required for making quality control. In addition, as emphasized by FEMCO’s chairman, Mr. Zhuang, the precision capabilities of AVM system is comparable to any other conventional 3D metrology equipment, reducing then the investment for purchasing this kind of machine. This positive outcome encourages the company’s Research and Development department for further achievements in the era of Industry 4.0.
